As many of you know, I serve on the Leadership Council for Vote Mama, an organization that coaches, funds, and endorses progressive moms running for office up and down the ballot across the country.
Since its launch in 2019, Vote Mama has helped more than 100 moms run for office. This year alone Vote Mama has endorsed 25 candidates from 11 different states. Four of those candidates are running in very important races in Texas and have an election on May 1st.
The candidates include: Alison Maguire for City Council in Denton, TX; Paige Dixon for School Board in Lewisville TX; Cydnei Drake for School Board in Carollton, TX; and Roxanne Martinez in Ft. Worth, TX. While Republicans are coordinating attacks on trans kids and kids of color, these municipal elections, especially for school boards, are more important and urgent than ever.
Candace Valenzuela, Vote Mama’s Texas Chair and former congressional candidate, who formerly served as a school board member unseating an 18-year incumbent, will be joining the event, and the candidates may stop in to say a few words too!
This is how we build the bench of progressive moms in office all across the country in positions that matter. I hope you can join me next week to support this work and these amazing mamas running for office.
