Cruelty-free fashionistas and eco-curious style mavens alike should be in a tizzy about the San Francisco Vegan Fashion Show, the city’s first vegan fashion exhibition. The event happens on October 2nd as part of the San Francisco Vegetarian Society’s 11th Annual World Vegetarian Festival.
This isn’t an exhibition of homemade tees and hemp sandals – not that there’s anything wrong with that. Attendees will see a line up of on-trend pieces by nationally recognized cruelty-free clothing, shoe and handbag designers. There will be brilliant bags by Pansy Maiden and Melie Bianco, sex-on-wheels shoes by Cri de Coeur, chic coats from Vaute Coture, recycled denim from Reco Jeans, limited edition tees from Lions Share Industries, and other high-end fashions from the Mission Savvy.
As if that’s not enough, Rory Freedman, co-author of the best selling Skinny Bitch book series, will emcee the event. That’s one-half of the dynamic duo that, in 2005, sent a jolt of consciousness up the spines of women interested in the health and aesthetic benefits of veganism.
In addition to the runway presentation, Vaute Couture, Pansy Maiden, and Lion’s Share Industries will participate in a Fashion Show Village, where attendees can purchase their products. There will also be a silent auction during the event, the winners of which will be announced at the end of the show.
The San Francisco Vegan Fashion Show is being presented by Karine Brighten Events, a bay area firm specializing in eco-friendly event planning. The San Francisco Vegan Fashion Show is free with $7 admission to the world Vegetarian Fair. The festival takes place in Golden Gate Park’s County Fair Building.
