The Plant-Based Food Brand on A Mission to Fix the Freezer Aisle and Tackle Big Food

Strong Roots, the brand on a mission to fix the freezer aisle, is accelerating its retail expansion with the rollout of its plant-based range, to more than 2,000 Walmart stores nationwide.  This means thousands of people in food deserts or without access to healthy, affordable foods will now be serviced by this brand. What a WIN!

34-year-old Samuel Dennigan founded Strong Roots in Ireland in 2015. He grew up surrounded by fresh fruit and vegetables in his family’s wholesale business. After a stint at Art College, he swapped the brush for the spade, driven to create frozen food options that were better than fresh. Since then, Sam has been on a mission to fix the freezer aisle and take on Big Food.

Strong Roots was created to bring delicious, plant-based food to everyone. With real ingredients, exceptional taste and nutrition, consumers can feel good and know what they’re feeding their families. All of their food is made from the best quality ingredients, all sustainably sourced.

Strong Root’s line of plant-based burgers, root vegetables and freezer favorites like Cauliflower Hash Browns will be available in more than 2000 Walmart stores. It’s the fastest growing food brand in the UK, where its products are stocked by all major UK retailers, including Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer.

And you can trust us – these are DELICIOUS, clean protein options that are kid approved!

“Walmart is the largest retailer in the country, and we’re incredibly proud to partner with thisiconic American company to bring our range of plant-based food to families across the U.S. I started this company because I believe in farm to fork. Consumers have embraced our products as they hunt for healthy, easy options in the freezer aisle and we’re thrilled to continue growing with this Walmart expansion.”

Consumers are returning to the freezer aisle, looking for healthier options. A recent report by FoodDive stated that the pandemic is having a significant impact on consumer behavior around food, with nearly three in 10 increasing their consumption of plant proteins in the last year. Other plant-based categories are also seeing more consumption, with almost a quarter of consumers having more plant-based dairy, and 17% eating more plant-based meat.
