Juicy Buys: What We Are Loving On This Month

It’s time for our regular monthly favorites, enjoy!  Here are just a few things tweaking our nips this rainy Month;

Reads:

The Art of Non-Conformity: Set Your Own Rules, Live the Life You Want, and Change the World by Chris Guillebeau $7.86 @amazon.com

Loved this book for a motivational kick in the tuchus.  If you are done with 9-5 livin’ and working for the man, this is the book for you.  It’s amazing how this guy has traveled the world, and never had a full time job.  Must read.

Addict Nation: An Intervention for America by Jane Velez-Mitchell Jane Velez-Mitchell & Sandra Mohr $14.70 @amazon.com

Jane Velez-Mitchell is an award winning television journalist, best selling author, and GGA friend. She currently has her own show on HLN, “Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell”  and is an environmentalist, “out” lesbian, animal protection advocate, vegan, and recovering alcoholic with over 15 years of sobriety – she knows her stuff – whatever the “stuff” may be.   This book busts down the door on addictions.  We are addicted to things we didn’t even know we are addicted to.  This book gives readers a much-needed wake up call for living a full life more sustainably.  We loved it and think everyone we know needs to read it.

Vegan's Daily Companion: 365 Days of Inspiration for Cooking, Eating, and Living Compassionately by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau $13.59 @amazon.com

This book is a revelation, absolutely gorgeous.  A perfect addition to any vegan, or fledgling vegans, bookshelf.  Author of some of our favorite cookbooks (and podcasts!) Patrick-Goudreau does it again.

Eats:

Ancient Grains Cereal, available exclusively at Costco

Totally blown away by Costco riding the vegan train and offering this mind-blowingly yummy cereal in bulk – exclusively at Costco. Like all Nature’s Path products, Ancient Grains is USDA certified organic which means it does not contain artificial preservatives, additives, genetically modified organism (GMOs) or synthetic pesticides.  Fewer and fewer excuses remain to not get healthy.

Bananas Whole, $8 and up @karibafarms.com

We’ve been buying the whole bananas dried from our health food store, different brands, and they are the perfect on the go snack.   Not to be confused with sugar-laden dried banana chips, these are amazing for kids (our baby loves them,) and sweet as a chocolate bar.

Beauty:

Audrey iPad Purse, $108.00 @revealshop.com

Your ipad will be the hottest girl in the room wearing this queenly (and eco/ vegan) confection.  Why would you use anything less attractive?

Eco Armour Shaving Foams, $14 and up @eco-armour.com

Boys and girls (and the rest of us) – jump for joy!  A green shaving cream that smells like heaven, works, and is entirely non toxic.  Created by a Husband and Wife team of environmentalists (even the bottle is recycled and recyclable,) this product feels like love was put into it, it’s a pleasure to use on our hairy gams.

Women's "Vegetables Feel No Pain" T-shirt $20, @therovinghouse.com

This tee shirt is a hilarious response to the dingbats who make unfunny jokes about your veganism.  You don’t need to say a word, just point at your rack.   Lauren, the sweet vegan behind this design, makes other clever shirts – most organic – and sells them on her site.  This one is particularly cute and reminds us of the anti-drug commercials from the 80’s, and we mean that in a good way.
