We will go so far as to say, if you aren’t crying, angry, or changing your lifestyle after watching the video below, there is something wrong with you.  A new Mercy For Animals undercover investigation provides a horrifying look into E6 Cattle Co., which supplies thousands of calves for the dairy industry. For over two weeks in March of 2011, an MFA investigator documented the operation’s deplorable conditions and brutal mistreatment of animals.

MFA’s hidden camera reveals:

  • Workers bludgeoning calves in their skulls with pickaxes and hammers – a killing method condemned by the American Veterinary Medical Association
  • Beaten calves, still alive and conscious, thrown onto dead piles
  • Workers kicking downed calves in the head, and standing on their necks and ribs
  • Calves confined to squalid hutches, thick with manure and urine buildup, and barely large enough for the calves to turn around or fully extend their legs
  • Gruesome injuries and afflictions, including open sores, swollen joints and severed hooves
  • Ill, injured and dying calves denied medical care
  • The budding horns of calves burned out their skulls without painkillers

Upon reviewing the undercover footage, Temple Grandin, PhD, animal welfare advisor to USDA, declared: “It is obvious that both the management and the employees have no regard for animal welfare.”

Following the undercover investigation, MFA alerted law enforcement authorities to violations of Texas anti-cruelty law at E6 Cattle, and presented a detailed legal complaint and meticulously compiled evidence of such violations to the Castro County District Attorney and sheriff. The evidence demonstrated an ongoing pattern of torture, unjustifiable infliction of pain and suffering on animals, and a failure to provide necessary medical care. The case is currently under investigation.

Meet your milk

As MFA continues to expose the unconscionable cruelties of animal agriculture, and to diligently pursue justice by aiding prosecutions of animal abusers, consumers still hold the greatest power of all to end the needless suffering and death of calves – and all farmed animals – by adopting a compassionate, vegan diet.

This is not abnormal, this is pretty much the meat and dairy industry, fraught with hideous cruelty. The only way to love animals is to go vegan – plain and simple.

Giving up dairy is the easiest fucking thing in the world. There are AMAZING vegan alternatives for butter, milk, ice cream, yogurt, even cheese. You don’t have to go to Whole Foods to buy that shit either. All major supermarkets are carrying soy and almond milk these days.

Additionally, milk is horrible for you. It exacerbates asthma and allergies, is linked to acne and to certain forms of cancer.

Get it together and give it up.

  2. Rhea Parsons says:

Oh my G-d. It’s so horrific. I couldn’t watch the whole thing without turning around at least twice and crying, “WHY?” through it.

If anyone thinks this is worth that glass of milk, that slice of cheese, that pat of butter or that scoop of ice cream, they have NO HEART!

  3. Steve says:

Soy milk and cheese can be bought at any fucking store in the world at this point. There is NO need to drink milk in 2011.

I totally agree with the two people above, completely.

  4. What kind of culture are we that condones …. No, actually encourages this violent treatment to the innocent? Is anyone thinks this kind of activity does not bleed into the core of society they are sadly mistaken. All the violence – The callousness to the meek – The bullying to the vulnerable. Is this the legacy we wish to leave behind? That we beat up and kill infant animals so we can steal the milk from their mothers??? Indefensible! Tragic! PLEASE – anyone reading this who is still consuming meat/dairy/eggs — Make better choices!!!

  5. Chenai says:

Oh MY GOD! WHAT ON EARTH! WOW! THIS IS DISGUSTING.

  6. Ellen Busbia says:

I saw the first blow and I had to turn this off. Just to hear the sound was horrible. The poor defenseless animals can’t run from this! My next question is WHO would do this without any pangs of conscience. Do these “men” go home to their families and kids and give them a hug. If this were shown on TV–many would eschew meat and dairy. Of course, no network would show this. Without the internet–no one would see this.
