The Right Earrings for Your Face Shape

Published on April 3, 2010 by   ·   5 Comments

The title may sound straight out of TEEN Magazine, but earrings are a staple in your jewelry box and certain styles do work best to accentuate the shape of your face. Today David Mamane, CEO of MyJewelryBox.com offers tips on what styles work best with your face frame:

OVAL:

* Since Oval faces are well proportioned, studs and smaller hoops work best in order to not make a face look too long.

ROUND:

* Chandelier or dangling earrings are the best match for the classic round face shape as they draw attention to the cheekbones and jaw line and can balance out a wider forehead. Hoops are not a good match for a round face as they make the face appear rounder.

HEART:

* The best earrings for a heart-shaped face can be chosen by considering earrings that are heavier at the bottom. Also, Earrings in bold designs and bright colors will draw attention to your cheekbones.

SQUARE:

* Earrings that have rounded edges look best because they will soften a square face. Medium to long styles are best but large, angular styles can make a square face appear wider.

RECTANGLE:

* Rectangle shaped faces should look for Statement chandelier styles with lots of volume. Simple studs also work well as they draw the eyes horizontally.

  1. Jen says:

Nice advice but the writer seems to be biased towards oval “well-proportioned” faces and even “classic” round faces despite their broad foreheads, but square faces need to be “softened”. I think my square face is plenty soft, thanks very much.

  2. Kirsty says:

Couldn’t agree more with Jen! I have a square head too but I think I’m wonderfully between harsh and soft features. I think everyones face is too different to establish what earring style works best with their face. Nice idea though
