And even though Flax seeds are wonderfully helpful for women going through hot flashes, that doesn’t mean you gents should stop at the flax isle! Flax isn’t just for the ladies! Men consuming a small amount of flaxseed daily can lower their cholesterol in as few as three months, according to a new study from Iowa State University’s Nutrition and Wellness Research Center. That’s good news for those suffering from high cholesterol and looking for an alternative to prescription medications. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 17 percent of Americans suffer from high cholesterol, often contributing to heart disease and other significant health issues.

In the study, researchers monitored 90 people diagnosed with high cholesterol, but otherwise healthy. Participants were divided into three groups and assigned to take daily capsules containing zero, 150, or 300 milligrams of flaxseed lignans (chemical comounds) for three months. Researchers found that consuming at least 150 milligrams of flaxseed lignans per day can decrease cholesterol levels in men by approximately 10 percent. To read the full article, click here!

Be careful to caution folks about taking vitamins and other important supplement and med with ground flax seed. It is a powerful fiber and ought to be taken before or after meds and supplements by at least 30 min.
I use flax seed oil in my protein shakes (arbonne uses green pea and delivers 18 grams of protein plus loads of vitamins too) and mid morning drink a glass of organic cranberry juice diluted and 2 tbsp of freshly grounded up golden flax seed.
I think there may be a few flax seed babies out there before the folks realized taking birth control was not a good idea to take with the flax seed. Be well, be happy. Namaste
