Our favorite Brooklyn-based eco-vegan fashion brand Brave Gentleman has just released the pix of their most conscious sneakers ever. Designer Joshua Katcher has outdone himself with the production of these stylish and comfy sneaks.
REVENANT is a hand-crafted, vulcanized sneaker with recycled uppers made from waste-diverted cotton and waste-diverted polyester.
The materials are recycled in Brazil without the use of chemicals or dyes at a hi-tech mill with a social justice mission for its workers.
In folklore, a revenant (from the French word for “the returning”) is one who rises from the dead to warn the living of impending doom.
In a way, these sneakers are our dead textile waste returned from the landfill to remind us of the looming consequences of what the Ellen MacArthur Foundation estimates is 55 million tons* of clothing disposed of each year.
