How to reach peak performance and your best body ever?   Raw foodies have been raving about “Super Foods” forever.   What are they and why do they rawk?   Raw foods expert and maker of the worlds most delicious raw chocolate bars, Gabrielle Brick shares her super little secrets below;

There is more to eating healthy than raw, organic, vegan foods… and super foods are the key!  You may ask your self, “What are super-foods?” They are whole foods that are off the charts when it comes to vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that are readily assimilated by the body! Whether you are an athlete, mother, model, student or working the 9 to 5… You need super-foods to thrive and get to the next level of energy and spirit.   Read on below to learn the whys and how’s about cacao, maca, and goji.   Let’s start with a recipe to give you that gorgeous shiny glow;

A SUPER FOOD SMOOTHIE for SUPER LIVING! This smoothie will have you going for hours! Takes 10 minutes and you can drink it on the go or bring it with you for that oh-so-certain crash time during your day!

  • 2 cups Hemp Milk (or whatever you love i.e. Oat, almond, brazil nut)
  • 1/4 cup raw cacao nibs
  • 2 TBL Maca
  • 1/4 cup Goji berries
  • 1/2 cup Acai berry (or blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, etc)
  • Dash of Raw Honey or Agave Nectar — And blend!!!

CACAO

You’ve heard the GirlieGirlArmy wax poetic about cacao before.   Now it’s my turn; Raw cacao is a magical food. It has over 300 compound chemicals that support the bodies function! It is over 700 on the ORAC scale of antioxidants (which essentially means it is through the roof!) What’s even more incredible, is when you put cacao with other foods rich in antioxidants – they potentiate each other and the body is able to access ten times more than if you were to eat them separately! For those non-raw foodies who see us raw peeps and wonder how we get that glow-y look? This is how we get the GLOW, ladies & gents! The fountain of youth is in your food. {EDITORS NOTE: No need to believe us!   Check out these sensational BEFORE and AFTER pix of folks who went raw and imbibed in superfoods.}

Here are some other great benefits of raw organic cacao:

  • Stimulates the Neurotransmitters in the brain having us feel alert & focused… Have a deadline to meet? Put the coffee down and drink one of these smoothies! Guaranteed you will get better results!
  • Number 1 source of Magnesium – magnesium is the number 1 mineral for the HEART! Can we guess why Valentine’s Day & chocolate go hand and hand?
  • Raw Cacao releases ANANDAMIDE… What’s this? The BLISS chemical… That’s right… It releases the bliss chemical that has us feeling oh so good!

MACA

Maca is another ingredient in our super smoothie!  Maca is a peruvian root. It is an ADAPTOGEN. Adaptogens regulate our body. You will find two kinds of MACA on the market;  if you get the “cooked” one, it will act like a stimulant. If you eat it RAW, it will act as an adaptogen and regulate your glandular system. What does that mean? It will literally act similar to a thyroid and balance your hormones! Whether you are 15 or 50… Male or female… this is an awesome food!

Other benefits:

  • Sustainable source of ENERGY – a great food to have before your workout or simply to begin your day! Better than Coffee! I’ve had construction workers thank me for adding this amazing food to their daily routine!
  • Natural Aphrodisiac – keeps men virile and women happy :)
  • Great Source of PROTEIN (tell that to the dingbat who says you need steak to thrive!)
  • Boost the IMMUNE SYSTEM
  • It has amazing properties and is becoming more well known of for its effectiveness in health challenges, including osteoporosis, male impotence, menopause, menstrual difficulties, chronic fatigue, and depression.
  • Filled with B Vitamins, Calcium, Phosphorus, Copper, Boron… and more.

GOJI BERRY

High in TRACE MINERALS, this berry is great for our HAIR, SKIN, & NAILS!

  • Goji Berries are a COMPLETE source of PROTEIN – they contain 18 different amino acids and ALL 8 ESSENTIAL amnio acids
  • Known as the LONGEVITY berry – anti-aging sesquiterpenoids, polysaccharides, and will NATURALLY produce HGH!
  • B vitamins & Vitamin E
  • 4 times higher in antioxidants than blueberries

{EDITORS NOTE: We highly suggest everyone watch the film – or at least the trailer below – for Raw for 30 Days.   You will be flabbergasted by people literally reversing diabetes and other life threatening ailments – not to mention infertility -simply by going raw!   This is a must-see for anyone with health problems.}

    Thanks again, GirlieGirl! Can’t wait to make this smoothie this week! xoxo

  2. RubyAthena says:

    Wow! This completely makes sense to me.

    I’ve been eating Raw 3 days a week and I’m committing to a fully Raw, Vegan, Organic diet over the 40 days of Lent and I cannot wait to see how my outlook and my body evolve. I am keenly aware of how different I feel after a raw meal; energized, vibrant and satisfied on a level beyond just my hunger disappearing.

  3. ami says:

    I’m a raw foodie and I just made the smoothie but I added frozen acai and strawberries, five kale leaves, Sun is Shining powder, a few drops of chocolate stevia and some bee pollen on top. I have enough to sip all day!

    Love this site!

  4. Ari says:

    Just a quick question. I’ve been vegan for a while but have only recently been doing research into going raw. Where do rawk stars get their protein? I’m not big on sprouted beans by the way so that’s out. xoxo

  5. Hi Ari,
    Great question, you are able to get your protein from many sources! No worries about having to eat sprouted beans!
    There is protein in EVERYTHING you eat… broccoli, spinach, sunflower sprouts, nori, peas, and the list goes on…. Veggie protein is 80% more absorbable than animal flesh protein which is at the low end of 20%!
    Here are some COMPLETE protein sources:
    Hemp Seeds
    Chia Seeds
    Quinoa
    Goji Berries

    when you add these complete protein sources to your already protein rich diet, you are sure to get the proper intake. If you are an advanced athlete, you would want to add some extra special treats, however, for the whole of us who on average do some yoga and hit the gym a few times, eating a balanced diet is the best for our body!

  9. Karen says:

    I have lived an organic lifestyle for many years but included a lot of meat into my diet thinking I needed it for protein. Making hemp, goji berries, and other superfoods my main source of protein have given me new energy, balanced hormones, and a smaller waistline! I feel better than I ever have! It’s never too late to refine your diet – I’m 58 years old and started changing my diet two years ago.

  10. molly says:

  15. Tali says:

    Hey there G, I love the smoothie concoctions with the superfoods. My only concern was with finding some raw acai berries. Where, outside of Brazil, can you find these little guys? I know I could get the Sambazon Brand frozen pure pulp acia- which makes the best smoothie with the cacao nibs and hemp milk- but that stuff is Flash Pasteurized!!! The powder is cool, but I want to raw effect. Ever had fresh acai berries straight out of the lush forests in Belo Horizante, Brasil? I have and let me tell you… there is nothing like it. It’s truly a superfood when eaten raw, but what about when frozen?

    Rawk On,

  16. Tali says:

    …Any idea where to get raw acai berries? I just love the superfood smoothie concoction. Gives me amazing energy. I’ve been drinking one of these every morning for a year now and noticed the most incredible change ever. It’s as if you discovered the fountain of vitality. Keeps me up and going…

  17. Terra Ann says:

    Thanks for the tasty smoothie recipe, Gabrielle. I simply LOVE your flavor! Thank you for serving the tasty nutritional truth to us with sassy style. I want to pass your book out to my family and friends…when will it be ready to gift? BTW, your website is pristine! well done!

  18. Thank you everyone for the cudos! Much love!

    Tali – I believe that frozen is an okay way to go… freezing stops growth, or slows it down…. so, if frozen when fresh you are getting most of the optimal benefits! Also great during the Winter when craving berries or certain veggies!!!

    Terra Ann – My book is coming out soon! Will keep you all posted!

    Love & cacao Kisses!

    I am not sure of the real value of super foods but I can tell everyone about a super herb! Impotency is a serious issue little spoken of by the majority of sufferers. That’s why I am choosing to let as many people as possible know about Butea Superba an herb grown under government license in the Far East and previously unavailable in the West. Butea relaxes the muscle in the walls of smaller blood vessels enabling increased blood flow particularly in the genital area. This can be visually obvious as some men experience erections that are noticeably bigger. I have located a pill version at http://www.healthyed.co.uk and you can see from the site there are clinical trials which improve erectile function in over 80% of men who take it. If not for your own sake then try them for the sake of your partner and put the physical back into your relationship.

  20. Tina Heuges says:

    Gabrielle you are always the innovator and motivator for hundreds of people to get their lives back by educating them that Raw is not just a fad but a lifestyle that can truly save lives. Your story is always uplifting and genuine. Keep up the good work.

    Perfect. Keep going! I’ll meet you there!

    Hey, I’m going to try 30 days raw for myself, and I was wondering if almond milk, as in the kind at the store in shelf-stable cartons, is raw. I didn’t think it was, but if so, I’m definitely making this smoothie!

  30. Jenny says:

    I’d really like to look into a raw diet…but I have no idea where to begin! Can anyone suggest any books? I’ve had chronic gastrointestinal issues for over 15 years now and I’m on a constant mission to eliminate my problems. I went vegan (after being vegetarian for a couople of years) about 3 years ago, and it worked wonders for my stomach at first, but I’m afriad I’ve fallen into the processed vegan foods trap…no surprise my stomach problems have worsened in the last couple of months. I really would love to go more than three days without having to take medications which drain the energy from me..maybe looking in a raw diet would be a good start? Any suggestions?
