As a vegan mother of two in Berlin, Nannette Swed found it a challenge to find cruelty-free clothing – particularly shoes – for her kids with “the same functionality as non-vegan clothing that is also sustainable and fair.” Nannette holds a PhD in economics and founded a statistical consultancy in the past, with her upcoming online store, VEGAN CHILD, she decided to dedicate her work to what she believes really matters – eco-conscious vegan kids booties, shoes, and clothes.
Nannette says;
Animals are treated just as bad when it comes to exploiting them for raw materials like wool or leather. While there is already a choice of vegan brands and shops for adults, there is no shop which lets you buy kids clothing without harming animals. VEGAN CHILD is pushing for a new ethical standard: sustainable, fair & cruelty-free.
Currently in a crowdfunding stage, you can buy sweet, comfy little slippers/ booties that proclaim “vegan” next to dinosaur images, precious newborn shoes with vegan suede colorful laces, and cruelty-free, non-plastic, waterproof autumn/ winter kids using rare long staple fibers for eco-friendly functionality.
