80′s Style is Totally Tubular

You’ve seen the sardonic hipsters prancing around in stonewashed jeans and silver bejewelled belts with teased bangs. Unless you are 18 and supermodel-pretty (and can therefore get away with absosmufly anything), this is not ever, ever, ever a good look.
But the 80s weren’t all bad, like the look above, there are some trends we are keen to revisit.
Geometric patterns reigned supreme in the era of Molly R. We loves Topshop’s Starlight one shoulder
dress ($100) and this Geo print
dress ($88) from Urban Outfitters.
OlsenHaus’ Luck blue splatter ankle
boot ($230), and Charles Albert Midora purple faux suede
bootie ($29.95) are bright and playful, and perfect to dance to Neneh Cherry in.
Going more authentically 80′s for your purse works, think of it as a tip of the hat to an era lost to John Hughes films and breakdancing injuries. Plus nothing is more eco-friendly than buying vintage! Search
ebay,
etsy, lavintage, and your local vintage shop for great selections of vintage 80′s clutches. (Below) LA Vintage’s
envelope purse ($25) is perfect for those of you who get so drunk they lose their bags (Aha! it’s strapped on!)
For the face, please stay away from frosted pink lipstick and blue eyeshadow, it rarely works. Channel iconic red “Addicted to Love” lips with Urban Decay’s XXX Shine
Gloss ($16) in Guys Love Betsy, a shade that’s bold but still sophisticated.
And if you’ve spent the prior evening partying to the max, hide dark circles with A.J. Morgan’s Greta
sunglasses ($14.99).

I remember some things you haven’t included here that were REQUIRED for the happening, 80s gal:
Le Sportsac purses
WIDE belts
miniskirts (whether or not you had the legs for them)
tunic tops
levis
As someone who survived the 80s look, I think some of these things are best laughed at and not reprised. :)
Not into the feathered bangs, but totally into all those other 80′s throwback looks! That purse is calling my name!
