An Ethically Luxe Winter

An Ethically Luxe Winter

Looking gorgeous shouldn’t mean one damn thing needs to get hurt, the mere idea of it is ridiculous.  Looking lovely via an ugly act (electrocuting sweet furry animals par example!) is an absolute oxymoron.  Particularly when cruelty-free chic alternatives abound.

Here are some of our current must-haves for getting through this winter looking as lovely outside as we feel inside – bearing in mind actual usability. We are busy ladies here at GGA HQ and as much as we wish we were as drag queened out daily as we used to be, it’s just not reality in our winter hustle.

Here are our picks for things we’d actually wear regularly;

Adore these faux-sheepskin boots made incredibly well by Italian vegan line Noah (they also make great mens shoes and lovely scarves made from flax!) These boots are as comfy as they seem and up the put-together ante of any lazy leggings and big sweater outfit.

Martina black, 169pds @noah-shop.com

Double the price Stella’s also suit your casual winter list;

Stella McCartney Kickapoo boot, $595 @farfetch.com

Stella McCartney Brompton faux shearling boots, Original price $625 Now $250 60% off @theoutnet.com

Ditto with these great moto looking suckers from Stella, but you’d need to be a size 6 to get the great price.

Black Harper Faux Nappa Biker Boot $ 595.00 on sale for $ 238.00 FALL 2012, @stellamccartney.com

Entirely vegan coat line Vaute Couture is made in the USA and is entirely ethically sourced, created, and made. You’ll feel warm in your heart (and on your body) knowing you supported this type of business.

Audrey Coat, Regular Price: $560 On Sale Now: $420 @vautecouture.com

I’ll admit I used to wrap myself in my Mothers fur coats in the hall closet when I was a little girl.  This was before I knew how much more beautiful those skins looked on their living owners! Now there is no excuse not to wear faux when it feels this silky and soft.  Fabulous Furs has hundreds of fake furs available, many of them slightly cheesy.. but if you work one of the more vintage-y looking ones right (like the one below) it will look more Grandma’s brooch and less Cruella DeVille.

Vintage Mink Bias-cut Stroller, $399 @fabulousfurs.com

A lovely faux-sheepskin wrap coat gives that great 70’s vibe which never goes out of style.
