Get Ready For Fur Free Friday

You know how we feel about fur… no compassionista worth her weight in Stella McCartney heels would be caught dead in the tortured fur of innocent animals (lest they want to get played publicly by The Discerning Brute.)  Especially not when faux furs are more realistic and more available than ever. Fur Free Friday is usually the largest animal rights demonstration of the year.

Don’t miss your opportunity on November 23, the day after Thanksgiving, to join with thousands of activists worldwide for this international day of action.

DONATE YOUR FURS!

Did you totally used to wear fur (we did) before your eyes were opened?  Did you wonder what to do with your fur? Now we can tell you!

The donation of unwanted fur coats and fur trimmed items help In Defense Of Animals create educational displays. All fur donations are tax-deductible. If the fur is worth $500 or less, please include a note with the fur providing its value and include a return address. If the fur is worth more than $500, and you want a receipt for more than $500, the fur must be appraised and the paperwork, or copies of the paperwork, must be included with the fur. Please mail unwanted furs to: In Defense of Animals, Fur Amnesty Program, 3010 Kerner Blvd., San Rafael, CA 94901. If you have any questions, please contact Christy Griffin: 415-448-0063 or [email protected].

OR

Donate the skins to Coats for Cubs. All of the furs are sent to wildlife rehabilitators, who use the furs to warm and comfort orphaned and injured wildlife. More than 200 rehabilitators from across the United States and Canada now participate in the program. You can mail your fur(s) directly to a wildlife rehabilitator listed on the Coats for Cubs website.

While we are at it..

L.L. Bean Is Mean!

Is this ugly hat worth this hideous cruelty?

Many of you have already sent an email asking L.L. Bean to go fur-free.

Over 6,000 of you responded to an In Defense Of Animals action alert and L.L. Bean is hearing us loud and clear!

In fact, they have requested that they disable the alert, which they have no intention of doing until they stop selling fur.

Let’s make sure L.L. Bean knows we all mean business by posting on their Facebook page. Please share this important alert with your friends and family. If you care about animals, don’t support L.L. Bean. They promote hunting and sell fur. Please buy your clothes from companies that don’t harm animals.

Please post this (or a similar) message to L.L. Bean’s Facebook Page.  “I am horrified to hear that L.L. Bean continues sell fur-lined hats and gloves. A company that has been around for 100 years should know better than to promote and support cruelty to animals. I refuse to shop at L.L. Bean until you make the compassionate decision to go fur-free.”
