Permission to Skip the Gym

There’s a new way to work out that is going to literally save your life. Leave it up to GGA fitness leader Kendra Fitzgerald to be this innovative.. check it out;

This might be surprising coming from me, someone who’s life is dedicated to working out and healthy living…I hate going to the gym sometimes and I can’t get myself to yoga class on a regular basis to save my life. And I own a freakin’ fitness company!!

Let me be clear here – once I’m actually AT the gym or yoga studio, I’m good to go and I’m always glad I’m there.  But it’s the planning, schlepping, lugging heavy bags around and spending 3 hours getting in a 1-hour workout that makes me crazy.  I know I’m not alone in this.  Not to mention the fact that some gyms and studios of all kinds can be super-intimidating, sterile and uninspiring places where you mix sweat with a million other people at the same time. Eww. (Did I mention I’m becoming a germa-phobe??) You know me as the leading lady behind Barefoot Tiger, the in-home fitness team of the Girlie Girl Army crew. We’ve spent the last 8 years bringing kick-ass workouts and zen yoga chill-outs to New Yorkers, and now we’ve got an LA crew too.

What these years of teaching and inspiring have taught me is that we are all real people, with real jobs, families and lives that can make it difficult to schlep to that class on the other side of town on a regular basis. And that makes it hard to really get what we deserve in life – to find exercise that fits effortlessly in with our lifestyles and to feel amazing. My goal? To help as many people as I can feel amazing.  So we’re shaking up the standards.   We’re bringing group classes to you at home, cozy with your computer, with a live instructor who gives you live feedback on the spot…and actually knows your name!

How does it all work? We’re working exclusively with Gymagogo to bring you live, online and interactive fitness classes, broadcast from our studio in Midtown, straight to your living room, and the first class is FREE! Most classes are 45 minutes long and some are 25 minutes – long enough to get your sweat on, and then get on with your day.

~ 30 minutes before the class, you’ll get an email with a link to sign into your class, with instructions on how to set up your mat and computer at home.
~ Log in at class time and you’ll be able to see and interact with the instructor. (We have a video camera and projector set up at the studio in Midtown, so you can see and hear us from home.)
~ Other students will be in the class with you, but they can’t see you and you can’t see them. Only the instructor can see you during your practice, so don’t worry if your dog decides to start humping your leg during warrior II pose. It’s ok, we love dogs too. :)
~ After class you’ll be sent a class survey so you can let us know what you think!

What are people saying about it?

~ I felt that exercising worked around my lifestyle. I could have done this anywhere.
~ I was super impressed by this service. I would go as far as calling it revolutionary.
~ That was fantastic! I put the kids to bed then trotted out to the den for a great full body strengthening stretch. The instructor was very clear and well spoken, easy to follow…Wonderful concept, I will keep coming back.
~ It was a great experience, very easy to sign up and participate.
~ I really liked the instructor’s pace during the class. I think that being able to take classes online offers a lot more flexibility.
~ It was great to be able to do an exercise class at home; very convenient, and the instructor was really nice and helpful.

Skip the gym, take a class at home and most importantly, save time and feel great.
