You go to the gym for many reasons: it clears your head, keeps you in shape, and makes you feel good. But have you ever thought about adding some reps for your vagina to your workout routine?

Here are the dos and don’ts of vaginal work outs.

DO

*Kegels

Pelvic floor exercises are actually a proven way to flex love muscles. There is science behind the method, which is basically contracting or squeezing then relaxing your below the belt muscles a few times a day for a set amount of time. You do not, however, need to buy anything like toys or props to work out with. Unless you want to. Kegels can be a bit tedious. For motivation, keep in mind that they are said to help women attain orgasm more easily, intensely, and frequently.

*Mula Bandha

This is kind of like yoga kegels, but also kind of not. If you’ve ever been to a yoga class, you’ve probably heard the term, also referred to as “root lock.” Mula bandha is associated with the center of the perineum, for women you basically contract and hold the area at the base of the cervix, though everyone describes it differently. You “lock” it during meditation or while holding poses. Over time, it gets stronger. This can intensify orgasm.

*Have Sex and/or Masturbate

Think about all of that spasming that happens when you orgasm. It’s a muscle and so lots of orgasms can strengthen things. It’s a muscle so go ahead and flex it.

DON’T

*Take Herbs

No need to swallow questionable pills or cocktails that are supposed to help tighten you. Turns out they are mainly bad for you, and they can lead to other concerns like STIs. Walk away.

*Get surgery

Do we really have to spell this out? Don’t do it.

*Actually lift random heavy things

Perhaps you’ve followed Kim Anami on Instagram, because, well her vaginal weight lifting of random things is objectively fascinating. While some doctors suggest adding weights to your kegels—depending on your own body’s needs—there’s just no need to add surf boards, organic juices, or anything of the sort to the  #thingsiliftwithmyvagina mix.

The best thing about vaginal workouts—besides the potential uptick in orgasms and intensity, of course? You don’t have to go to the gym. So get squeezing.
