H&M has come a long way from cutting up and tossing unsold clothes in landfills (rather than selling them off price or donating them to homeless shelters) with the launch of their Conscious Collection. Conscious Collection is part of H&M’s work towards a more sustainable fashion future and all the items in the collection are made from eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton and recycled polyester.  Almost all of the pieces are vegan, and all are shockingly affordable.

This is a nice option for those of us not purse heavy enough for exclusive eco-fashion boutiques, and not always in the mood to vintage shop.

Take 20% off one item at H&M until April 22nd with this coupon.

Still sweatshop made I’m sure :-(

  2. emma says:

Actually H&M uses doesn’t use sweateshops it is because the quality is lower that they are able to charge lower prices. And the mass production of them. Is contributing to fast fashion. At least they use recyled plastic and organic cotton.

  3. Amy says:

It’s nice, I suppose, that they are attempting to appear eco-friendly but I can’t really take this whole thing seriously until they stop manufacturing their clothes in Cambodian sweatshops. Please look into this aspect of things before running such stories; otherwise you play right into the hands of those who claim that you value non-human animals’ lives over those of humans.

I agree. I find it’s just another marketing strategy. I believe in quality, not quantinty. If people pay 10 bucks for a dress they dont really value the work that some young Cambodian, Vietnamese, Chinese woman put into it and got paid nearly nithing for that work, but if you make things that last longer, have more quality and are more expensive, the workers get payed more and people value the garments they buy and take care of them, they no longer become disposable clothing. Quality, not quantity will make the difference.

  4. H&M has been very hit or miss with us for years…we agree with the other comments H&M is jumping on the eco-friendly bandwagon!

  5. I’m going shopping tonight. Thanks for the coupon :-)

I think it’s great that they are doing this. It plants these ideas into the minds of masses of young people that maybe wouldn’t be thinking about such things otherwise. Its another example of a main stream brand catching on to the changin’ times and people’s expectations that large companies need to be held accountable for their practices. The more recycled vegan ad organic clothing we have the better regardless of whether the company is completely perfect
