Leopard Print Is Here To Stay

Published on September 7, 2009 by   ·   14 Comments

My Mother is (and always was) a die-hard fan of all things leopard print.   I remember one particular leopard print outfit she wore regularly in the 80′s from Norma Kamali that was literally head to toe dealio – a hair band, jacket, skin tight dress, and super high heels – all in leopard.     Open any fashion magazine today, and you’ll still always see a hint of a leopard print.   Unlike pleated pants, which we refuse to believe actually suit anyone that isn’t a supermodel, leopard print truly looks fabulous on everyone.   After all, the roots of the print come from quitessential 50′s fashion – short, neat jackets, or cigarette holders showing off what was then considered quite a racy print.   From punk rockers to elegant ladies who lunch, you can always buy a leopard print piece or accessory and not worry a smidgen about it being the featured guest at your next clothing swap.   A Gal in leopard always looks like she will kick your ass.. and maybe sleep with you too. Leopard print, much like STD’s, is forever.

Not sure how to wear it?   Check out of some of the notables below in their feline finery.   A scarf, hat, wallet, clutch, or headband in the print will add serious zazzoo to your look if you are too chicken to go all the way with it.

I may be the only person on the planet who has NEVER had ANYTHING in a leopard print. May have to try that sweater, though. The head-to-toe dealio, though? Never. Gonna. Happen. :)

  2. chloejo says:

Head to toe is ONLY for onstage! Never real life (unless it’s the 80s!!). :) In real life – one piece at a time.

  3. Suasoria says:

Love leopard, and zebra, and all those gorgeous prints. I wear animal prints partly to show the world how beautiful, interesting and amazing animals are if we were to just LOOK at them instead of eating them, using them for their skin and hair, making them do stupid tricks, or torturing them in laboratories.

Got some boots and a scarf. I’ll wear them separately lest I get the attention of the fashion police.

  5. leopard print is Melissa’s favorite! I am forwarding this to her! yay!

  6. My mom, too. She’s crazy for leopard print clothes, furniture, you name it. I have to admit, I like it, too. :)

    Cheers,
    Kristen

Oh, I need to pull this for Fashion Spot! Great work doll. xo

  10. Jenni says:

I LOVE leopard print. I have a double-breasted leopard print coat that I fancy as a dress with some Cuban heeled stockings and super high heels. Leopard print always equals vava voom sex appeal.

  11. Gina says:

Thanks for including some affordable choices! The headband is super cute and surprising. I’m not digging the off the shoulder dress though-maybe it’s the way they styled it, but it’s a little too Betty Rubble for me.
