Apples have long been known for their healthy benefits as shown by the old English saying, “Ate an apfel avore gwain to bed makes the doctor beg his bread.”

The American version is more succinct,“An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Good apple sauce from good apples protected from adulteration, like Eden organic’s or your homemade, is an excellent way to get more apples and their benefits into your life, and the lives of those you care for. Apple sauce makes it easy, from young kids through the mature, almost everyone enjoys good apple sauce.  Apple sauce is particularly palatable for preggy ladies with morning sickness.

Apple’s polyphenol antioxidants are known to decrease oxidative stress syndrome, promote weight loss, and help reduce body fat especially around internal organs. The bioflavonoid Quercitin helps maintain healthy skin and circulatory health. Its pectin, a soluble fiber with gentle yet effective cleansing properties offers cardiovascular, digestive, respiratory, and immune system benefits. This pectin was also recently found to increase friendly intestinal bacteria.

Researchers report organic apples and apple sauce are the far better choice. A six-year study at Washington State University reported that organic agricultural methods produce better tasting fruit than commercially (chemically) grown fruit, and they believe this benefit is not just sensory, but indicative of increased health benefits. Studies consistently show organic fruit has 40% to 80% more antioxidants than conventionally grown. Choosing organic, like EDEN apple sauce, best ensures avoidance of toxic farm chemicals that severely increase stress on us. The average commercial fruit grower uses over 35 toxic insecticides, fungicides, and weed killers. The Environmental Working Group lists non-organic apples as second worst, after peaches, in pesticide load.

Organic apples are so sweet and savory that you wouldn’t think of adding chemical flavors and refined sugars to them.  It is quite clear that the only way to get tasty, healthy fruit is to grow and process it organically.
