Why We Need To Help This Gentle Parenting Icon

This is difficult to write about and I don’t know where to begin, so I’ll just start at the beginning of my parenting journey, when I discovered someone who wrote about children in a way that I completely felt connected to. Someone who stood for the respectful treatment of children and all humans. Someone who said, ‘It’s not our job to toughen our children to face a cruel and heartless world. It’s our job to raise children who will make the world a little less cruel and heartless.’ This and many more messages have become viral on social media, giving it the positivity it needs. Award winning author, LR Knost, is the founder and director of children’s rights advocacy and family consulting groups, Little Hearts/Gentle Parenting Resources, and Editor-in-Chief of Holistic Parenting Magazine. LR empowers and encourages positivity in households around the world, including my own. She’s also the incredible mother of 6 children. She was the reason I felt inspired to create Gentle Parenting Memes, with her quotes! Little did I know, years later she would also happily write the foreword in my first book!

A little more about LR:

It saddens me immensely to write of her battle with an incurable (Neuroendocrine) Cancer.  Read her story, in her own words, here. I’ve followed her journey for years and have struggled with not knowing how to help someone who, even through her personal challenges, still works tirelessly to stand up for human rights.

This feminist, and social justice activist’s work has been quoted from Hollywood to D.C. to South Africa, most notably in an address on children’s rights to the South African Parliament by the Minister of Justice. She lives in Central Florida with her husband and the youngest four of her six children. Her parenting books include the secular ‘Two Thousand Kisses a Day: Gentle Parenting Through the Ages and Stages,’ ‘Whispers Through Time: Communication-Based Parenting,’ and ‘The Gentle Parent: Positive, Practical, Effective Discipline,’ and the faith-based ‘Jesus, the Gentle Parent: Gentle Christian Parenting.’ Her children’s books include ‘Petey’s Listening Ears,’ the first in her Wisdom For Little Hearts series and her soon-to-be-released ‘Grumpykins’ children’s picture book series for ages two to six. Both series are humorous, engaging tools for parents, teachers, and caregivers to use in implementing gentle parenting techniques in their homes and schools. She has helped us all so much.

What could I do that would help, even just a tiny bit? Probably not much, on my own, but with support from peaceful parents who have also been touched by LR’s words, I can raise money to help with medical expenses and ease some stress so she can focus on her beautiful family.

I’ve created the Gentle Parenting Memes, LR Knost Fundraiser Pack:

  • Gentle Parenting Memes, Volume 1,
  • Poster #7
  • Magnet Trio

Valued at US$36.60*, for only US$25.20*! 50% of ALL packs sold, will go to LR Knost.

I will run this campaign for as long as it takes to sell 60 packs (raising AU$1,000 or approx US$766)!

If you wish to help me raise money for LR Knost and would also like her inspiration in your home, please purchase the Fundraiser Pack from www.gentleparentingmemes.com. Your help is truly appreciated! (*Note: prices based on current xe.com conversions. Prices on website shown in Australian dollars and not including shipping. Shipping available worldwide.)

Other ways to help: Donate directly to her YouCaring fundraising page – all expenses will go directly to her medical care, or support her purchasing her books on Amazon. You can follow her journey on her facebook page.
