Here’s your spine chill for the day in the form of a book trailer;

Ruby Roth’s last book “That’s Why We Don’t Eat Animals” is a favorite of pre-teens and extra smart kids nationwide, and she’s followed it up with an even stronger book – Vegan Is Love – brimming with magnificent illustrations and strong, brilliant messages.  These books are not without controversy, being called “propaganda,”  “brainwashing,” and even  “child abuse” (!!) by “writers” on the paycheck of the animal agriculture trade. We adore Ruby’s brilliant response to a recent reviewe by Nicole German, a registered dietician on Diet Blog whose occupation and critique perfectly exemplify the real reasons why “experts” often dis’ veganism: fear, ignorance, and industry collusion.

Ruby has become a voice for the vegan family, recently with her article “Is Veganism Safe? Are you raising healthy, vegan kids?” on the TODAY Show blog.  Vegan Is Love introduces young readers to veganism as lifestyle of compassion and action. Broadening the scope of her popular first book, Ruby illustrates how our daily choices ripple out locally and globally, conveying what children can do today to protect animals, the environment, and people across the world. From the food we eat to the clothing we buy, from the use of animals in entertainment to the benefits of organic farming, Roth explains the tenets of veganism and explores the many opportunities we have each day to act with kindness. With her special brand of gentle candor, Roth treats controversial subjects with care and sensitivity, bring into sharp focus what it means to “put our love into action.” The message transcends mere food philosophy to encompass the personal agency of people-big and small-in creating a more sustainable and compassionate world.
