Buh-Bye Taxis, Hello Uber

Even eco-heroine’s need a car occasionally, whether you are shlepping home a stack of books from a lit swap or taking the kids across town to a music class in a snowstorm, sometimes the dream of all public transport/ all the time is just impossible. And if you are already veg you know that a vegan in a hummer has less of an environmental footprint than a carnivore on a bicycle, so it’s ok once in a blue moon. That said, don’t go buying a hummer. But feel free to start using Uber (when needed, of course!) because it’s fantastic. Don’t feel like too much of a nerd if you haven’t heard about it yet, it’s still catching on. It’s so revolutionary, and so brilliant, we’ve completely stopped taking yellow cabs. They are fantastic, but bear in mind accidents can and might happen. It’s always good to be aware that humans can make mistakes, so if an accident does happen to you when you are taking an uber, then make sure you get yourself a lawyer. You can check out someone like this Uber accident lawyer here, to give you an idea of what to do next.

Uber is the new wave of taxi. You simply download the app to your phone, then the service utilizes dispatch software to send the nearest driver to your location, which pops up already on the app. This isn’t a dumpy car service, they send gorgeously sleek, executive-style black cars with cool looking, well dressed drivers that make you feel like you are big pimpin’. And you never take out a card or sign a damn thing. The service charges your ride and tip directly to the credit card on file with your account. Uber is in 33 countries and nearly every City, so there’s no urban diva that can’t try it out. We’ve done comparisons and found it to be either the same or a slightly pricier (maybe a few dollars more) than a yellow cab or basic car service, depending on where you are going and what time you are traveling. And best of all, there is no waiting on the phone for 10 minutes listening to muzak waiting for a car service to be available.

It’s so easy, it’s almost too good to be true.

Try it, let us know what you think.
