In the coming days our country will begin to suffer the consequences of the worst oil spill in  U.S. history.   The aftermath of the spill will be truly devasting to animals and their habitats across the gulf coast.   PATH (People Protecting Animals & Their Habitats) has determined a need for logistical, supply and rescue support will be needed for months to come.   Founder Kelly Overton will be leaving NYC to travel to the gulf  region and mobilize a central supply and rescue/information center in the wake of the oil spill.   PATH volunteers are currently establishing supply/donation drop sites in locations across the country.   The supplies and donations secured at these sites will be efficiently sent to PATH’s central location in the gulf region  and then distributed to areas of most need.   GirlieGirl Army members: saddle up your support

Below are some items that  are needed.   Items that  cost less to buy locally than mail/transport are not included.

  3. Chloe, Thank you for sharing this!

  4. JB says:

I was wondering where you got the Florida address for direct mailing of donated supplies? My lab has multiple pairs of used wading boots that we’d like to donate, but don’t want to send them without verifying the address. The address isn’t listed on the PATH website – actually, there is no mention of an Oil Spill initiative at all. Thanks in advance for any more info you can give.

  5. kelly says:

    JB,

PATH has updated our web site w/ links to follow our work in the gulf. The mailing address in Florida belongs to one of our board members. We chose not to rent/pay for a large post box. please call PATH at 617-354-2826. Thanks for caring and for taking the time to ask.

    Best,

    Kelly Overton

  6. Sharon says:

How can I donate airline miles?

  7. kelly says:

    Sharon,

Contact PATH at 617-354-2826 if you can share miles. That would be so generous!

    best,

    Kelly

  8. Thanks for this information. I am sure i can find items or a donation for this cause. It’s going to be a long haul, and if I could go and help on the frontlines I would. All the best to you and your group.
    best,
    Rachel

Help the Gulf Coast communities with the BP oil spill! Please join this Facebook group (http://bit.ly/d8l5gI) to learn about OIL-EATING MICROBES & bioremediation, then write to local governments and news media in the Gulf Coast communities 1) telling them about OIL-EATING MICROBES and 2) help them bring in companies that specialize in bioremediation. We can’t wait around for ‘big government’ to do it .. it’ll never happen. We have to.

Where are they staying? Has anyone called local hotels where they and the grocery stores to see if we can get them to donate food and lodging? If no-one has I would definitely spend the time to make calls. Let me know.
