How To Naturally Revive Wilted Flowers

Published on March 16, 2010 by   ·   1 Comment

Ever come home to a flower delivery of wilted, sad stems? Or love an arrangement so much, you want to keep it alive as long as possible? Spring is almost here, and that means.. fresh flowers!

All hope is not lost when a wilted bouquet awaits you.

Simply cut 1/2 inch from the stems on an angle and place in warm water immediately, add 2 teaspoon of sugar and a few drops of lime or lemon juice to the water. This will help rehydrate the flowers, and lessen your guilt (i.e “I was at work all day while they were in my lobby parched to death!”)

Then, move them to a place that’s out of direct sunlight and away from both cold drafts and heat sources. Keep the flowers away from fruits and vegetables which produce ethylene and will shorten the life of the flowers.

Replace water and rinse stems every 2-3 days, and you’ll notice a serious increase in the longevity of your flowers, which means you’ll smell the litter box slightly less, for slightly longer.
